April - Online Training (Relationship Science Online - RSO)
The Scientist-Practitioner: Strategies for Practitioners in How to Use Client Data to Inform Practice and to Undertake Research
(half-day workshop)

Therapists are often keen to evaluate their own practice and efficacy in counselling and clinical contexts. However, practitioners often remark on their limited knowledge, understanding, or time regarding the conduct of research and evaluation into therapeutic practices and client outcomes. The analysis of client data can then be used by therapists and counsellors to inform their own practice and chart client progress through the therapeutic process. This online workshop will inform participants about: (1) the types of data that can be used to assess therapeutic practice and change, (2) when to administer various client assessments, (3) the use of Excel to examine patterns of change within and between individuals, (4) collecting data using online methods and smart phone applications (5) using case notes to inform practice, (6) the practice and ethics of using client data for research and publication, and (7) creating research teams with like-minded practitioners and researchers.
